May to June is referred as the best time to take part in the yatra and again September to till Diwali is the best time. Winters are harsh here so don’t forget to carry heavy woolen clothes during yatra.

Badrinath: Badrinath is one of the most important pilgrimage destination dedicated to Lord Vishnu. Badrinath is one of the highest temple of Lord Vishnu situated in Chamoli district in the state of Uttarakhand. Badrinath is one of 108 Divya Desems of Lord Vishnu. It is said that Lord Vishnu meditation here and Goddess Lakshmi converted herself into a berry tree to protect Lord Vishnu from heat and cold. It also said that Adi Shankarcharya was found a black shaligram idol in Alaknanda River in 9th century. Badrinath Dham is a pilgrimage destination holds great faith in the heart of devotees. River Alaknanda and Neelkanth peak are the major attraction of this place.

Kedarnath: The existence of Kedarnath Temple is the result of Pandavas search of Lord Shiva. It is said that when Pandavas killed all his own brothers in the war then they feel guilt and want to wash all the sins. Then they started worshiped of Lord Shiva but Lord refused their request and converted himself into a bull and tried to run away. But Bhima (one of Pandavas) was able to catch the Hump of Bull. Where the Hump of Bull appeared which location is called Kedarnath. Kedarnath is the highest temple of Lord Shiva and one of 12th Jyotirlingam. Every year lots of devotees from all around the world take part in the yatra. Kedarnath is a pilgrimage destination situated in Rudraprayag district in the state of Uttarakhand.

Gangotri: River Ganga is one of the most sacred River in India and Gangotri is abode of Goddess Ganga situated in Uttarkashi district in the state of Uttarakhand. The white beautiful structure of Gangotri Temple is one of the major attractions of this place. Gangotri temple stands strong in between majestic Garhwal Himalayan with thick forest and amazing nature beauty. Gaumukh is the origin point of Ganga situated 19 km from main shrine of Gangotri. It is said that King Bhagirath did serious penance to impress the Goddess Ganga for getting Moksha for his ancestors. After 1000 year penance Goddess Ganga was agree to come down on the earth. But Goddess Earth was not able to bear the heavy force of Ganga so Lord Shiva was agree to lock Ganga in his hair for save the mankind.

Yamunotri: Yamunotri Shrine is dedicated to Goddess Yamuna situated in Uttarkashi district in the state of Uttarakhand. Yamuna River is the second most sacred River in India after Ganga. It is said that once Yamunotri is the home of great sage Asti Muni. He took bath in the Ganga and Yamuna both every day. But when he became old and unable to reach Ganga then a water stream of Ganga appeared opposite site of Yamuna. Then the Sage take bath easily in both rivers. It is said that Yamuna is daughter of God Sun and sister of God Yama. It is believed that take bath in the water of River Yamuna clear all the sins and protect unnatural and painful death.
