Product description:Name Change Procedure for any citizen of India. DVM Legal Services, which is a part of Lawguides dot org, is offering Online Services for Change of Name in India. For each State it seems a separate / distinct procedure is prescribed. The applicant has to obtain first Police Verification Certificate from the Police Station concerned where he is residing. Next, he has to produce the said Police Verification Certificate to the Tahsildar concerned and obtain Certificate from him. Thereafter by submitting the required documentation, he has to take necessary DD and apply to the Gazette Authorities of the State. It would take certain time either for the Police or the Tahsildar/ Revenue Authorities to issue the required Certificates because they would enquire into the matter and having been satisfied with the details submitted, then only would issue the necessary Certificates. However, the Central Government is also offering Name Change Procedure. DVM Legal Services will guide you to change your name legally as per the requirements of the Government of India, which is divided into 3 categories as detailed below:--

i) Change of Name for Adults / Majors
ii) Change of Name for Minors (Parents shall apply on behalf of the minor)
iii) Correction of Name (Please note that Change of Name is different from Correction of Name)

For all the above three categories, you have to give an Affidavit on a Non-Judicial Stamp Paper of minimum value, stating details, such as, your name, your father’s / husband’s name, date of birth and age, your present address, reason for change of name (like, parental mistake, numerological / astrological purpose, name is very long and to make it short, for married women – change name of surname after marriage, for divorcees / widows, change of name after divorce, etc.). In case of minor (son or daughter), the parent (father or mother) has to give the above affidavit.

Then, a Classified in a Local Newspaper for change of name / publication notice is to be given, etc.

Gazette Publication Fee as the case maybe as fixed by the Gazette Authorities by way of Demand Draft to be given.
