The former consists of two elements, one is the cylindrical stainless steel chamber-Negative Electrode through which the water flows. At the center of chamber is a core covered dy a dielectric sheath positive electrode. Water enters the chamber at the bottom and spirals around the core as it travels upwards to the outlet. When the water passes through the SS chamber the equilibirium of the hardness causing ions is disturbed due to the high electrostatic field. This converts the scale forming ions into a non adhesive type of sludge, the same can be collected at the low velocity zone (cooling tower basin) and flushed out by blown down or bleed out, as the case may be.
