Ranakpur is a hamlet located in the Pali district of Rajasthan state in western India. It is among the five most important pilgrimage sites of Jainism. It houses several temples which are devoted to different Tirthankaras such as Adinath, Parasnath and Chaumukha wonderful Architecture and that’s how it justifies its nickname ‘an oasis of spirituality’.

The place has got its name from the ruler of Mewar, Rana Kumbha who himself gave up his land for the construction of temples. It is said that a Jain trader Dharna Shah started the creation of this temple after getting inspired by the dream of celestial vehicle.

Ranakpur attracts its thousands of tourists or devotees on the basis of its marvellous Jain Temples decorated with amazing architecture such as Ranakpur Jain Temple, it is among the most important and largest Jain temple complexes of India. It was constructed during rule of Rana Kumbha and houses total four shrines. This temple has unique feature of colour changing. Sadri, it acts as a gateway from Marwar to Mewar and also a landing place for that Ranakpur Jain Temple and Shri Parshuram Mahadev Mandir. The place has other attractions also. Suray Narayan Temple, it is a beautiful shrine having various murals on its wall, dedicated to Sun God. A temple of Amba Mata also lies in its premises. Narlai, it is a hamlet which houses Jain and Hindu temples adorned with admiring mural painting and beautiful architecture which depicts the relics the ancient periods. One can also find plethora of steep wells in the village. Desuri, it is another town which is sprinkled with beautiful temples. Three temples are the main attraction of the town which are dedicated to the three deities of Hinduism namely Lord Shiva, Lord Hanuman and Navi Mata. It also houses an ancient mosque.

Best time to visit this land full of spirituality is between the months of October to February due climatic conditions and because of Ranakpur festival too which in the month of October every year.

Nearest airport and railway station from Ranakpur is Udaipur which is situated at a distance of 60kms. It connects Ranakpur to major cities of rest of the country such as Delhi, Mumbai, Jodhpur, Aurangabad and Jaipur via regular flights and Delhi, Jaipur, Chittaugarh and Ajmer through direct trains. One can avail taxi or bus from outside the Railway Station and Airport. It is also well connected via road as well with major destinations like Jodhpur, Ajmer, Jaipur, Chittaurgarh, Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Delhi, Vadodara, Indore, Kota and Mount Abu.
