Lansdowne used to be the hub of all the major activities done by the freedom fighters of the British Garhwal.
At present, it houses the command office of the Garhwal Rifles of the Indian Army. Visitors can admire the rustic buildings, churches and old taverns at Lansdowne which are reciting the unheard history of pre-Independence Era.

To travel Lansdowne, one has to reach Dehradun via airways and Kotdwar via railways first which is situated at a distance of 158kms and 40kms away from Lansdowne respectively.
